Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway is Your Minnesota Scenic Byway.

The Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association promotes 54 miles in our region fondly known as the
Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway. This scenic route loops through five cities, nine townships and two counties– encompassing some of the best resources our state has to offer.  The Scenic Byway includes walking paths, recreational parks, wildlife management areas, historic sites and more. Our mission to expand safe shoulders for bikers and walkers to enjoy the Scenic Byway continues; as well as developing new sites to explore.PBSBA new Welcome Brochure can be found on local area Discover Racks and at Scenic Byway kiosks along the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway.

So... how does the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association promote the area?  The PBSBA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Our vision is to strengthen the quality of life and visitor experience along the route by promoting and enhancing the area’s resources and amenities that support economic vitality. The popular story book-style Welcome Brochures are printed and direct-mailed to attract visitors from Wisconsin and Iowa.  We printed 25,000 new Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Maps.  Find both of these publications in local Discover Racks in the Brainerd Lakes Area promoting Whitefish Area Lodging and Scenic Byway sites of interest.

Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Map for 2018Our Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Map is the one tourists use the most to get around in the area. According to a PBSBA 2010 survey supported through the Central Region Sustainability Development Partnership, the Carlson Chair for Travel, Tourism & Hospitality and Explore MN Tourism with support from the Pine River Chamber of Commerce our efforts have made a big impact. During the first ten years of our Scenic Byway designation, our efforts to spread the word about the Scenic Byway and the communities and jurisdictions surrounding it, resulted in nearly $22 million spent by more than 24,000 travelers visiting the region, generating $7.2 million in labor income.

We need your help, by renewing your membership or becoming a new member or donor. See the attached membership form.  We are a membership driven organization. Volunteering is a great way to help your Scenic Byway! If you want to lend a hand, we have short and long term projects available and would love your help. We are also looking for people to serve on our Board. Call Cindy Nelson (612) 201-0888 if you would like more information or have any questions.

We challenge you to take some time this year and have fun exploring your Scenic Byway and support what you enjoy!
