The Gateway Gazebo has a new location

Motorist and Biker alert! A big change happened along the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway.

Going on 10 years now, the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway's Gazebo and familiar sign has marked County Road 16 at Hwy 371 as the 'gateway' of Paul's Scenic Byway.  Last week the Gazebo kiosk, interpretive panels and road signage all made a Paul Bunyan-sized leap across County Road 16 and now reside among the pines at the A Pine Restaurant.

Thank you to A Pine Restaurant owner, Rick Beyer for donating the site and organizing the move. Thanks also to AAA Equipment Center, Pequot Lakes for the equipment to make it happen and TNT Heating (Terry Theis) for the man power.

This Gazebo, built in 2001 by member-volunteers with donated materials, is special being the only Scenic Byway gazebo of thirteen kiosks, which are all, located at key sites along the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway. At the Gazebo two interpretive panels share Paul Bunyan's truth and lore of this historical 'Gateway' and a third panel is a history of the City of Jenkins.

Learn more about this recreational state and national Scenic Byway.  We are always looking for volunteers to help stock literature, monitor sites and trails, serve on our Board or work the woodshed at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Crosslake Recreation Area campground.
