History Tours on the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway

If you love history, legends and lore, or just a fun afternoon with family and friends, you won’t want to miss the bus. Stop at the most exciting, interesting and lore-filled historical sites in the area. Ride in comfort on a luxury Reichert coach bus and explore this recreational scenic byway with the help of guided narration, Tour Packet, slideshow and podcasts relating the vast and varied stories of the area, combining recorded history with the locals’ best myths and legends including, of course, Paul Bunyan himself!

Tuesday, July 12th, 1pm - 4pm tour the southwest side of the 54 mile Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway which includes Breezy Point and Pequot Lakes routes. Visit parks, nature trails, BIG Paul Bunyan, Interpretive sights, historic fire tower and you'll still be back in time to be at Trailside Park in Pequot Lakes for the Lowering of the Bean pots into the ground for Bean Hole Days.

Thursday, July 28, 1pm - 4pm tour the north side of the 54 mile Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway to see the Pine River and Jenkins routes. Visit the Historic Train Depot Museum, Paul’s Footprints, Read about the Giant Ducks at the dam and see Kater Park on the Pine River, Stay the weekend and you'll enjoy lots more fun during Pine River's SummerFest July 29 - 30.

Thursday, September 22, 1pm - 4pm tour the southeast side of the 54 mile Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway to see Crosslake and Manhattan Beach routes. Visit creeks, rivers and lakes, forests, nature trails and parks. Explore the Paul Bunyan Exhibit Room of memorabilia and US Army Corps Learning Center, then stroll the Linda Ulland Memorial Gardens just out the door. Stay for the weekend and you'll enjoy lots more fun during Crosslake Days Sept. 23-24.

Time: Each tour is from 1-4 p.m.

Location: Both the July 12th and Sept. 22nd History Tours start and end at Antler’s Restaurant in Breezy Point. The July 28 History Tour starts and ends at the Pine River Depot and Welcome Center.
