Celebrating Twenty Years as Partners

Byway Bylines, March, 2024

On November 4, 2004, the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association (PBSBA) officially became partners. The St. Paul district signed the cooperative agreement at the district’s Cross Lake facility. It was the first cooperative agreement in the state of Minnesota.

The Corps of Engineers had been authorizing cooperative agreements since 1991 and as of November, 2004, there were more than 30 cooperative agreements in place nationwide. When the agreement was signed at Cross Lake, Minnesota joined the group.

The agreement has stood the test of time, and as we move into 2024, celebrating twenty years as partners, it’s a perfect time to remind everyone of the many wonderful things the USACE and specifically our local Cross Lake site, does for all of us.

Enjoy looking over the information provided by the Corps. Stop by the campground site, explore the Exhibit Room in the administration building, and put the great events the Corps hosts at the site every year on your family calendar.
