Story Time with Paul Bunyan at Pequot Lakes Library

Paul Bunyan was an invited guest-reader at the March 31 Pajama Night at the Pequot Lakes Library. The Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association’s Brian Peterson took on the role of the big logger at this event for pre-schoolers and their families.

Before the children and families broke into small groups, the kids listened to a story read to them by Brian about Paul Bunyan and some of the tall tales that are always part of this folk hero’s stories. ‘Paul Bunyan’ was also a small group celebrity reader, lending his big voice to two fun stories, One Dog Canoe and Grandpa’s Fishing Buddy. At the end of the evening, free Byway maps and tour guides were available for participating families to take home.

Earlier this year, Brian represented the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association as a Paul Bunyan guest-reader in Mrs. Zeidler’s classroom at Eagle View Elementary.  Last summer he performed as a Paul Bunyan reader at Rainy Day Books in Nisswa.

The Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association (PBSBA) has three Paul Bunyan character performers.  In addition to the celebrity reader role, they have also been a part of Byway area events including parades and community celebrations, charitable organizational gatherings, welcoming visiting officials and photo op’s.
