Byway Bylines
It’s time to celebrate a bit. The video highlighting the City of Jenkins was posted online in mid-July. Videotaping of area residents interested in this project was done at the Jenkins City Hall on December 4, 2024, by well-known area videographer, KC Moore. Following months of collecting historic photos and gathering additional stories, the six and a half minute video can be viewed on the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway website by clicking here.
The City of Jenkins is the second jurisdiction to complete a video telling their story. Ideal Township was the first to jump in on this multi-year project, undertaken by the PBSBA, to gather the stories of the six cities and eight townships that comprise the Byway route, eventually weaving them together into one epic feature showing how each is remarkable and vital to the full story of why this route was authorized as a state scenic byway in 1998, and later elevated to a national scenic byway in 2006.
Other byway cities and townships are: Breezy Point, Crosslake, Manhattan Beach, Pequot Lakes, Pine River, Barclay Township, Gail Lake Township, Jenkins Township, Mission Township, Pelican Township, Timothy Township, Wilson Township. The cities of Breezy Point and Crosslake have both expressed interest in participating in the video project.
For information about how route-located cities and townships can participate in the videography project, contact the PBSBA by emailing <info@paulbunyanscenicbyway.org> or text/call 218-821-0021. Residents, businesses and organizations interested in helping their local jurisdiction fund this project should contact their city or township clerk.
